EDIT: How amazing was last night’s Antony & Cleopatra?!

If you missed it you can now listen to the whole drama on the BBC website or below, enjoy!

One week from today the long-awaited broadcast of Antony & Cleopatra, starring Kenneth Branagh and Alex Kingston, will air on BBC Radio 3, 20 April, 7:30pm. The broadcast is going to be online available for approx. a week afterwards but just in case I’m gonna record it. :) Can’t wait for it, surely it’ll be brilliant!

Kenneth Branagh and Alex Kingston take the lead roles in this great tragedy of love and power, a new production to mark the 450th anniversary of the birth of William Shakespeare.

Lovers, politicians, superstars. Antony and Cleopatra is Shakespeare’s late and epic tragedy of mature love and the catastrophic fall from grace and power that it brings about. Irresistibly drawn together, the couple are surrounded by friends, enemies, admirers and critics, none of who remain unscathed by the folly and heartbreak of this magnificent pair. As empires clash around them, their destiny seems inevitable: to love each other till death and even beyond.

This new production of Antony and Cleopatra marks the return of Kenneth Branagh and Alex Kingston’s Shakespearean partnership, last seen in their sold-out Macbeth at the Manchester International Festival in 2013.

A BBC Cymru Wales production for BBC Radio 3

Part of Radio 3′s celebration of the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare’s birth. The mature love affair of Antony and Cleopatra is followed next week by the tragic story of young love, Romeo and Juliet.

Duration: 2 hours, 25 minutes
First broadcast: Sunday 20 April 2014

The gallery has been updated with another batch of full HD screen captures and the latest appearance of Alex’s character Dinah Lance on the CW’s Arrow. Enjoy!

Television Work > Arrow > Season 2 > HD Captures > 2×14: Time of Death

As from the stills which were released in mid-Februray (see HQ002/HQ003) it looks like there has been a cut. Hopefully the missing scene will be on the DVD/Blu-Ray set or make it’s way on the web otherwise ;)

Doctor Who stars Alex Kingston and Noel Clarke have been cast in the lead roles alongside The League of Gentlemen’s Reece Shearsmith in Chasing Shadows, a new ITV crime drama.

The four-part series will focus on the work of a missing persons field unit charged with tracking down serial killers who prey on impressionable and vulnerable people.

Kingston has played River Song in Doctor Who since 2008, while Clarke played companion Mickey Smith between 2005-2010. Shearsmith appeared as Patrick Troughton in BBC Two’s Doctor Who drama An Adventure in Space and Time last year.

Reece Shearsmith will play DS Sean Stone and Alex Kingston will play his partner, Ruth Hattersley. Noel Clarke (Star Trek Into Darkness) will play DI Prior.

The official synopsis reads: “On the face of it Sean (Reece Shearsmith) is intense, socially awkward and a misfit. Get to know him and you realise he’s a man on a mission even if it leads him to self destruction and his eccentric manner frequently lands him in hot water. He’s obsessed with deciphering codes and uncovering patterns of behaviour particularly in relation to those most at risk, vulnerable missing persons.

“Ruth (Alex Kingston), on the other hand, is a stabilising influence. Maternal, but not mumsy, she’s an analyst from the Missing Persons Bureau tasked to work alongside Sean. In effect his bosses have sidelined him and she is his lifeline. Sean refuses to be tethered to Ruth, but eventually learns that he and Ruth make an awesome team. She has the ability to connect with people and has the expertise to trace missing persons. He is socially awkward and struggles to communicate; yet their strengths strike the perfect balance. On paper. In reality, it is a rocky partnership.”

Created and written by Rob Williams (DCI Banks, Holby City), Chasing Shadows begins filming soon in the South East of England.

Series 8 of Doctor Who is currently filming in Cardiff and is expected to begin airing in August.

Matt attended New Orleans Comic Con recently and had some thoughts on Alex and Peter working together.
Don’t ask. I’m really possessive over Alex. I said this to Steven. I was like, ‘Listen, just don’t! Just not Alex. Anyone else, but don’t give [Capaldi] River.’ But Peter is the Doctor now so hey, what can I do?

I think that Steven will be planning things that are going to unfold over years and I think he’ll reinvent the folklore, and it will become Peter’s folklore. But I am really proud of the fact that Alex was part of number Eleven’s life. My wife!
